How do I get to Wollongong?
There is no airport at Wollongong. Interstate and International travellers will need to fly to Sydney Airport and then travel to Wollongong via Train, Bus or hire car.

Drive

From Sydney: Wollongong is an easy 80 minute drive from the Sydney CBD and airports via the Princes Motorway (M1) or a 60 minute drive from Macarthur in Sydney’s west via the Westlink (M7).

From Canberra:Take the Hume Highway to the Moss Vale exit and travel to Wollongong via the Illawarra Highway. This option will take approximately three hours; orTake the Hume Highway to the Picton interchange and follow the Picton Road/Mt Ousley Road into Wollongong. This option will take approximately two hours and 30 minutes.

Train

From Sydney: Wollongong is located on Sydney Train’s South Coast Line. Sydney Trains operate commuter trains at regular intervals to Wollongong.
If travelling from the domestic or international airports catch a train on the airport line to Wolli Creek Station. Disembark and board the next South Coast Line train to Wollongong. This journey will take approximately 90 minutes from Wolli Creek Station.

Bus

From Canberra: If you are travelling from Canberra to Wollongong by bus, Murrays offers a daily coach service from Canberra to Wollongong, departing Canberra at 6pm and arriving in Wollongong at 9:20pm. For more information visit Murrays website.

The conference is being held at the Novotel Wollongong North Beach, 2-14 Cliff Road, North Wollongong.
Is there parking at the Novotel Wollongong North Beach?
Free Parking for delegates will be available on site at the Novotel Wollongong North Beach, access is via Bourke Street.
Banking Hours
Banking hours in Wollongong are: 9.30am-4pm Monday to Thursday, 9.30am-5pm Friday. Most banks provide convenient automatic teller machines. Foreign currency exchange is available during trading hours.There is an ATM located in the foyer of the Novotel Wollongong
Climate
Enjoy a mild, sunny coastal climate in Wollongong with winter temperatures averaging 17 degrees and summer temperatures averaging 27 degrees tempered with sea breezes. The average daytime temperature in August is between 11 – 20°C. Layers work well.

What is the dress code for the conference
Dress throughout the day is smart casual. The dress code for the Welcome Reception and Conference Dinner is smart casual or business attire.
Where do I register when I arrive at the Conference?
The registration desk is located at the Novotel Wollongong North Beach, Ballroom Gallery.Please direct any questions you may have regarding registration, session attendance or other elements of the conference to Leishman Associates staff at this desk.The registration desk will be open at the following times:

Sunday 6 August 3.30pm – 5.30pm
Monday 7 August 7.15am – 5.00pm
Tuesday 8 August 7.15am – 5.00pm
Wednesday 9 August 8.00am – 5.00pm

How do I gain entry into the Conference sessions?
Delegates and exhibitors will be provided with an individual name badge, which will give you access to all sessions and social events that you have registered to attend. This must be worn at all times within the conference venue.It is suggested that delegates arrive at preferred sessions promptly to ensure a seat. Once a session is full, delegates will not be granted entry.
Do I receive a Conference handbook and satchel?
All delegates will receive a conference satchel and handbookwhen registering at the Conference. The satchel will include promotional information from our sponsors and exhibitors.
I have registered to attend theBreakfast Workshop/s – what do I do?
The workshop will held be at the Novotel Wollongong, Hoskins Room,on Monday 7th& Tuesday 8th August from 7.30am – 9.00am. You can register to attend the Workshop through the online registration form or by emailing Angela Cooper (angela@laevents.com.au). Please see the Leishman Associates staff at the registration desk to grab your name badge. A light working breakfast will be provided.
Conference WIFI?
Delegates have access to complimentary WIFI for the duration of the conference. Please see the Leishman Associates staff at registration to obtain the password.
How will I know if there have been any changes to the program?
In the lead-up to the Conference small updates will be made to the program. See the latest version on the website arpsconference.com.au/program. Any changes to the Conference program during the Conference will be announced during housekeeping notices each morning. You may also check with Leishman Associates staff at the registration desk.
Can I photograph or record the Conference sessions?
Delegates are not permitted to use any type of camera or recording device at any of the sessions unless written permission has been obtained from the relevant speaker.
Will the presentations of each speaker be available after the Conference?
Power points will be available on the conference website following the conclusion of the conference. Speakers will be requested to sign a release form. This is not compulsory.
Is there security at the Conference?
The members of the conference organising committee and Leishman Associates accept no liability for personal accident of loss or damage suffered by any participant, accompanying person, invited observer or any other person by whatever means. Nor do we accept liability for any equipment or software brought to the conference by delegates, speakers, sponsors or any other party. Please protect your personal property. Do not leave laptops, cameras, and other valuable items unsecured. Be conscious of individuals who appear out of place and do not wear a conference name badge. Advise Leishman Associates staff if this does not occur.

 

Registration & Social Functions

What is included in my registration?

Full Registration

Full Registration includes attendance at all sessions during the days of 7 – 9 August . Fullregistration also includes the conference satchel, name badge, handbook, lunch, morning and afternoon refreshments as well as entry to the Welcome Reception& Conference Dinner. Full Registration does not include attendance to the Workshops or the ANSTO Tour, which can be purchased at an additional cost.

Day Registration 

Day Registration includes attendance at sessions on the nominated day of attendance, a conference satchel, name badge, handbook, lunch, morning and afternoon refreshments on the day of attendance. Day registration does not include tickets to the Workshops, ANSTO Tour, Welcome Reception, or Conference Dinner. Tickets to thesefunctions may be purchased separately.

I have special dietary requirements – what do I do?
You must advise the conference managers of any special dietary requirements when you register prior to the Conference. Caterers at each function will be informed of these. During the day there will be a buffet table offering food suitable for dietary requirements. If you are unsure, please don’t hesitate to ask staff at the registration desk.

IMPORTANT – If your dietary request relates to a life threatening allergy, please ensure that you advise the organisers as soon as possible.

How do I know if I’m registered for a social function?
After registering for the ARPS Conference you would have been emailed a Registration Confirmation which lists all social functions for which you are registered. If you require another copy please email angela@laevents.com.auTickets to the Welcome Reception& Conference Dinner are included in each full registration; however registering your attendance is required.Additional tickets for social functions can be purchased in advance through the online form and at the registration desk (subject to availability).
When and where are the social functions?
The Welcome Reception is on Sunday 6 August 2017 from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at the Wollongong Science Centre and Planetarium. Coach transfers will depart for the Novotel Lobby at 5.30pm sharp.

The Conference Dinner is on Tuesday 8 August from 6.30pm – 11.00pm in the Illawarra Room at the Novotel Wollongong North Beach.

Can I bring a partner along to the social functions?
Yes, you most certainly can – additional tickets can be booked when you registered online, or through the Leishman Associates office. Please email your request to angela@laevents.com.au.During the Conference, bookings can be made at the registration desk, subject to availability.
I would like to join on the tour of the ANSTO Facility. What do I do?
Registration to the facility tour, taking place on Thursday 10th August, can be made by emailing angela@laevents.com.au. Tour departs from the Novotel at 9.00am.

 

Speaker, Chairperson or Poster Presenter

I am a Chairperson, what should I do?
Chairpersons will receive an email prior to the Conference, reminding them of their responsibilities. If you are a chairperson and do not receive this, or have additional questions, please contact Angela Cooper(angela@laevents.com.au) at Leishman Associates (03 6234 7844)
I am a speaker, what should I do?
Please bring your PowerPoint presentation with you when you register. All speakers should present themselves to the Speakers Preparation Area, located in McCabe/Throsby Room, to upload their presentation. If possible, speakers are also requested to assemble in their session room a few minutes before the commencement of the session, to meet with their session chair and to familiarise themselves with the room and the audio visual equipment. A technician will be available on the floor. The speakers preparation room provides an opportunity for you to review your presentation.

There are prizes available for the Best Presentation and Best Presentation for a presenter Under 35.

I am a poster presenter, what should I do?
All poster presenters should have received an email with their designated poster session allocation and other details. If you did not receive this, please email angela@laevents.com.au. All authors are asked to be alongside their poster during their poster session. The Poster Session is marketed as an opportunity for delegates to approach the author of the poster and ask questions or discuss any element of the information displayed.

Posters must be no larger than AO (1189mm high x 841mm wide) portrait. We encourage presenters to provide their own Velcro ‘hooks’ to display the posters. Presenters must bring their poster with them to the Conference and advise Leishman Associates staff at the registration desk when they arrive. Poster sessions will take place on Tuesday 8 August and Wednesday 9 August during the lunch breaks.   A Poster Prize will be offered.

 

 Accommodation

How do I book my accommodation?
You can book your accommodation through the online registration form or by emailing Angela Cooper. You will be asked to provide your check-in and check-out date as well as your credit card details to secure the booking. Payment for your accommodation will not be taken until you check in or out of the Hotel. Delegates are encouraged to book in advance as availability closer to the Conference date is not guaranteed.
How do I pay for my accommodation?
When you book your accommodation your credit card details will be transferred to the hotel you have selected – please confirm this on check in with your hotel. Your credit card will not be charged until you check in or out. If the credit card you intend on using to pay for the accommodation does not belong to you, the Hotel will require an authority form to be signed.
I would like to change or cancel my accommodation booking?
Please email Angela Cooper (angela@laevents.com.au) to cancel or change your accommodation prior to the Conference. If you need to cancel your accommodation booking within 30 days of your arrival date any cancellation fees will be subject to the hotel cancellation policy. Therefore, no accommodation refund can be guaranteed within 30 business days of the Conference. If you alter your accommodation booking after you have checked in, please deal directly with the hotel. If you arrive 24 hours later than your indicated arrival day, charges will apply.

 

Cancellation and Disclaimer

I need to cancel my registration, what do I do?
Cancellations must be received in writing – mail or email– to Leishman Associates. Cancellations will not be deemed to be received until you have written confirmation from Leishman Associates. If you have not received acknowledgement within two business days, please contact Leishman Associates on (03) 6234 7844. Cancellations postmarked on or before, 1 month before the Conference, will incur a fee of 50% of the registration amount. No refunds will be made for cancellations for the Conference postmarked after 1 month before the Conference, however substitutions may be accepted.
