To ensure that your visit to Canberra and the experience of the conference is as enjoyable as possible, here is a list of Frequently Asked Questions which will hopefully provide you with all the information you need.
In following the advice from the Australian Department of Health, the organisers of ARPS 2021 continue to monitor the current situation and will update the website should there be any changes to the delivery of the conference.
We encourage you to read through this before you attend. Please contact us if you have a question that we haven’t answered.
What is the venue's COVID-19 Safety Plan?

Do I need to be double vaccinated to enter the conference venue?
The venue does not require you to be double vaccinated. Proof of vaccination is not required for entry into businesses, venues and events in ACT.
What are the health and safety requirements I need to be aware of?
Please ensure you have downloaded the CBR app as you need to check in when you enter the venue
The ACT Government has eased the mandatory use of face masks in indoor settings from 6pm Friday 25 February 2022.
While mask wearing requirements have eased, the Canberra community is strongly encouraged to continue to wear a face mask when entering public indoor settings where it could be difficult to maintain physical distancing.
Can I travel to the ACT?
There are currently no restrictions on interstate travel to ACT.
Persons who are currently under quarantine or isolation requirements seeking to travel to the ACT should refer to the Entering and Leaving the ACT page for further information. Please ensure you check the ACT website for updates before travelling.
Where is the conference venue?
The APRS Conference 2022 will be held at the Canberra Rex Hotel, 150 Northbourne Avenue Canberra City, ACT 2612.
How do I get from the airport to the Conference Venue?
Travel time between the Canberra Airport and the city is approximately 15 minutes.
Public Transport – Transport Canberra runs ACTION Bus route Rapid 3 with regular services between the Canberra Airport terminal through to the City interchange, Belconnen interchange, Cohen St interchange to Spence Terminus, seven days a week including public holidays. The Rapid 3 route operates every 15 minutes through the day (weekdays) and every 30 minutes on weekends. The trip from Canberra airport terminal to the City is less than 20 minutes. Rideshare – Your driver will pick you up from our Express Pick-Up Car Park, located on the ground floor of the GREEN Indoor Car Park, a short 20 metre covered walk from the Arrivals Hall. Our Express Pick-Up has a dedicated passenger waiting lounge adjacent to the car park where you can wait for your ride in air-conditioned comfort.

Taxi – The taxi rank is located centrally on the ground floor of the terminal building, just a short walk from the baggage carousels in the Arrivals Hall. The taxi rank is fully undercover and the waiting area is indoors for your convenience. Average fare to the city is $26.
Is there parking at the venue?
Car parking is complimentary for hotel guests, but is subject to availability. Should there be no parking on-site, guests are welcome to park across the road at Gowrie Hall Cell-O parking at 210 Northbourne Ave. This is a 400m walk to the hotel.

What is the dress code for the conference?
Dress code is smart casual.
How do I gain entry to the Conference?
All delegates and exhibitors will be provided with a name badge, which will give you access to all sessions. Please ensure you always wear your name badge.

What time dose the registration desk open?
Please refer to the latest conference program.
Where can I find a list of delegates who are attending the conference?
A delegate list will be emailed out a week prior to the conference. Printed delegate lists will not be available at the conference. If you had selected privacy required when completing your registration form, your name will not appear on the list.
How will I know if there have been any changes to the program
Any changes to the Conference program will be announced during housekeeping notices each morning. You may also check with Leishman Associates staff at the Registration Desk.
I have special dietary requirements – will I be served the correct food?
If you have advised Leishman Associates of any special dietary requirements, the caterers at each function have been provided these. A special buffet table will be set during the day for special diets. If you are unsure, please see the staff at the Registration Desk.
Will there be internet available?
Free wireless internet access is available for the duration of the Conference. The password and login details will be available closer to the Conference.
PLEASE NOTE: The internet is not to be used to view or download any illicit material, including movies, music etc.
As a courtesy to other delegates, please ensure that all mobile phones are turned off or in silent mode during all sessions.
Photographs, videos, recording of sessions
Delegates are not permitted to use any type of camera or recording device at any of the sessions unless written permission has been obtained from the relevant
Is there security at the conference?
The members of the conference organising committee and Leishman Associates accept no liability for personal accident of loss or damage suffered by any participant, accompanying person, invited observer or any other person by whatever means. Nor do we accept liability for any equipment or software brought to the conference by delegates, speakers, sponsors or any other party. Please protect your personal property. Do not leave laptops, cameras, and other valuable items unsecured. Be conscious of individuals who appear out of place and do not wear a conference name badge. Advise Leishman Associates staff if this does not occur.
What is included in my registration?
Day Registrations – includes catering for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, entry to sessions on the day specified, delegate satchel and name badge.
Full Conference Registrations – include catering for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, entry to two days of technical sessions, delegate satchel and name badge as well as entry to the Welcome Reception and Conference Dinner.
I need to cancel my registration, what do I do?
Cancellations must be received in writing – mail or email – to Leishman Associates. Cancellations will not be deemed to be received until you have written confirmation from Leishman Associates. If you have not received acknowledgement within two business days, please contact Leishman Associates on (03) 6234 7844.
Should it be necessary to cancel your registration due to Government imposed travel restrictions, we will provide you with a full refund, minus any bank fees incurred. Evidence may be requested, and each situation will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Refunds for any other reason will adhere to the following cancellation terms:
– Cancellations on and before 90 days prior the event will incur a A$150.00 cancellation fee.
– Cancellations on or before 60 days prior to the event will incur a 50% cancellation fee.
– Cancellations on or after 30 days prior to the event will receive no refund.
How do I pay for my accommodation?
If you have booked your accommodation when you registered, your credit card details have been transferred to the hotel you have selected – please confirm this on check in with your hotel.
The hotel will request payment on check in. If you have arrived 24 hours later than your indicated arrival day you may find that you have forfeited your deposit.
If you will not be paying with your own credit card, and need to arrange payment before you arrive, the best way is via a credit card authorisation form enabling the hotel to process a third-party card. To do so, please contact the hotel you selected and they will organise with you to receive a form for you to fill out and fax, email, or bring on arrival.
I would like to change or cancel my accommodation booking?
It is the responsibility of the delegate to book and manage their own accommodation for ARPS 2022. The organisers do not take responsibility for booking or payment for any rooms booked.
Speaker, Chairperson or Poster Presenter
I am a speaker, what should I do?
Please bring your PowerPoint presentation with you when you register. All presentations need to be 16:9 in ratio.
All speakers should present themselves to the Audio Visual Control Desk at least 3 hours prior to their scheduled presentation time, to upload their presentation.
Speakers are also requested to assemble in their session room 5 minutes before the commencement of the session if possible, to meet with their session chair and to familiarise themselves with the room and the audio-visual equipment. A technician will be present in the room at all times. There will be facilities to test and modify your presentation if required.
During the break prior to your session, it is highly recommended that speakers go to their room and introduce themselves to the chairperson of their session. Each chairperson will be in their room at least 5 minutes prior to the start of the session.
You can also check that your presentation is working correctly with the AV technician in the room.
I am a chairperson, what should I do?
If you are a chairperson, you will receive chairpersons’ guidelines when you register at the registration desk. If you have additional questions, please contact Leishman Associates.
ARPS 2022 reserves the right to amend or alter any advertised details relating to dates, program and speakers if necessary, without notice, because of circumstances beyond their control. All attempts have been made to keep any changes to an absolute minimum.
All intellectual property rights of the Conference, and all materials distributed at or in connection with the conference is owned by the Host, Leishman Associates, Sponsors, &/or Speakers presenting at the conference. Participants may not use, reproduce or allow anyone to use or reproduce any trademarks or other trade names appearing at the conference, content, or in any materials distributed at or in connection with the Conference for any reason without the prior written permission from the Host.
No part of the Conference may be recorded, reproduced or transmitted in any form or by any means, electronically or mechanically, including but not limited to video or audio recording, photography, photocopying or any other information storage or retrieval system known now or in the future, without the explicit written permission of the Host.

How do I get from the airport to the conference venue?
The Canberra Rex Hotel is just 9km from the Airport, with public transport and the taxi ramp on their doorstep.
