Dr Riaz Akber
Since 2006, Dr Riaz Akber has been the Director of Safe Radiation Pty Ltd, Australia. Previously, he was a Principal Research Scientist with the Australian Commonwealth Government and worked as Head, Environmental Radioactivity Section & Manager Control of Impact of Mining at the Environmental Research Institute of the Supervising Scientist.
He also held an academic position at the Queensland University of Technology and supervised a number of Masters and PhD projects in the field of radiation detection and radiation protection. Riaz Akber is a Fellow of the Australasian Radiation Protection Society (ARPS) and a member and former President of the South Pacific Environmental Radioactivity Association (SPERA).
Dr Riaz Akber has master’s degrees in physics, and Nuclear Technology; and then a PhD. Since 1976, he has extensively written and published in the field of ionising radiation detection and radiation protection. He is an Editor-in-Chief of the Journal for Radiation Protection and Research (https://JRPR.org), which is jointly published by the radiation protection societies of Japan, Korea, and Australia & New Zealand.
